Multiple currencies

Payments in In-App Purchase (IAP) can be made in different ways based on the user’s currency, location and method of payment. We support local pricing: different fixed prices for an IAP per currency and per country.

How the player location is determined

Payments in multiple currencies are based on the user IP. The user's IP address overrides any settings in the wallet when determining the amount to pay.

How payments in different currencies work

Fiat Payments: If a user intends to pay in fiat currencies (like USD, EUR), they pay the exact amount set by the developer for that particular currency and region. Even if the payment method itself doesn’t support the currency, the currency will be converted to match the exact currency value set by the developer for that region. The example below illustrates this clearly.

For example, let’s say that an SKU costs 4.99 USD (reference) and 2.99 EUR in Portugal alone , then even if I use USD in Portugal to pay for it (for any reason, such as a payment method that only allows USD), then the value I should pay is the one converted from the local price set for Portugal (2.99 EUR ≃ 3.17 USD) and not the reference one (4.99 USD), because the developer has set the price to this country specifically to tackle the spending power that we actually have.

APPC-C Payments: If a user pays with AppCoins Credits (APPC-C), they either pay the equivalent of the reference, usually USD value or the local currency value if it was setup by the developer, converted into APPC-C.

Exchange rates used

We use the exchanged rates supplied by this external provider. For the APPC we peg the value to USD at 1APPC = 0.01 USD.

Since your (the developer) balance is always in USD, all non-USD values will further be converted to USD, this conversion is done at the transaction time, i.e. at the exact time the transaction happens. All conversion risk and possible fees of currency exchange are taken by us.
